Altar Servers
Altar Servers assist the Priest as he celebrates the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This service is open to boys and girls from 4th grade onward. Adults serve at the weekday 9 am Mass and at Funeral Masses. Volunteers are always welcome. Classes of instruction are held as needed.
Special ministers of the Eucharist assist the celebrant during Mass by serving the Bread of Life and the Cup of Salvation to the members of the congregation. Membership is open to parishioners upon invitation by our pastor. There are two or three meetings from time to time during the year.
Lectors
Lectors are the young people and adults who read God’s Holy Word at Mass. Meetings are called from time to time as needed.
St. Michael Parish is a singing church! We invite you to come and join us in our Liturgy, either as part of the music ministry as a choir member or of the assembly. We have 2 active choirs. Our Adult Choir sings at the 10 am Mass on Sundays and Holidays from September through May. Children’s Choir sings at the 10 am Mass at various times throughout the school year. The organ and piano are always used for our celebrations. A variety of musical styles are sung for worship. For special Liturgical Celebrations, the music is further enhanced with the addition of flute, oboe, or brass quartet.
Ushers/Greeters
The ushers and greeters of the Ministry of Hospitality support our celebration of Mass by greeting people as they arrive and assisting them, as needed, to find seating or other church facilities (e.g., crying room, lavatory, etc.) They collect the offering during Mass and distribute bulletins to departing churchgoers after Mass. They look after the needs of the congregation adjusting ventilation or heating and assisting in any emergency which may arise.
